A tragedy can be an unforeseen circumstance (or set of circumstances) which lead to emotional/physical upset, neuroses, psychoses, or death.

A tragedy is NOT misplacing your keys, soiling yourself, breaking up with your completely whacked-out other; a tragedy bears with it grave consequences.
