Answer:

Translucent objects allow some light to travel through them.

Materials like frosted glass and some plastics are called translucent.

When light strikes translucent materials, only some of the light passes through them.

Answer:

What are translucent objects? What are some examples?

Translucent objects are objects through which light is able to pass, but through which objects are not clearly visible.

The word “translucent” is of Latin origin and stems from the roots “trans” (which means through) and “lucere” (which means to shine). The term “translucere” in Latin, then, refers to an object which allows light to shine through it, but not to pass through it unobstructed.

My favorite examples of translucent objects are wax paper or frosted glass like one might find in a shower. As you’'ll agree, light is able to pass through these materials to the extent that the luminous objects (light sources) behind them are identifiable -- unlike solid objects behind which a potential light source on the other side of it would be unnoticeable. But beyond discerning the general shapes of opaque (non-luminous objects) behind the translucent objects, it's not possible to make out clearly all the details of those objects.

Other examples include sheer fabrics like muslin (a gauze-like material), or certain tinted plastics (I always like to think of some of my very thin plastic guitar picks <.58mm).

HOPE IT HELPS ☺️☺️
