translation motion is the motion by which a body shifts from one point in space to another. example is the motion of the bullect fired from a gun . an object has a rectillinear motion when it moves along a straight line.

It is the motion that acts along a straight line. When a force of a stationary rigid body which is free to move,the body starts moving along a straight path in the direction of force. This is known as linear or translational motion.
e.g.On pushing a ball lying on the floor,it begins to move....
