Transpiration is the loss of water from a plant in the form of water vapor. Water is absorbed by roots from the soil and transported as a liquid to the leaves via xylem.

Answer:

Transpiration is the evaporation of water from plants.

Most of the water absorbed by the roots of a plant(as much 99.5%) is not used for the growth or metabolism;it is excess water, and it leaves the plant through transpiration.
