Water present in the soil is absorbed through the roots which passes through the root hair and is transported in upward direction through the xylem vessel to the highest point of the plant.
Then the water reaches to the leaves and is evaporated in the atmosphere by opening and closing of stomata.
This upward moment is known as Ascent of Sap.
Moreover, the process of Ascent of Sap is Transpiration.
