Aakash83: Transpiration is the process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to the atmosphere. Transpiration is essentially evaporation of water from plant leaves.

Transpiration :

Transpiration is the loss of water from the living tissues of the aerial parts of the plant in the form of water vapours.

Importance of transpiration :

● It controls the rate of absorption of water from the soil.

● It is responsible to ascent of sap.

● It regulates the temperature of the plant.

◆ The energy spent by the plants for transpiration is wasted. so, transpiration is considered as a necessary evil.
