Transpiration is the process by which plants removes excess water by evaporation from aerial parts, such as leaves, stems and flowers.
All the water absorbed by root is not used by plants in photosynthesis so excess water is removed by plants.
Now important thing is here that how it benefits plants so here is the answer -
Due to transpiration a upward force is created known as ascent of sap by which water and products of photosynthesis is transported to upper parts of plants.
