Triangle : It is a polygon with 3 sides.
There are 3 kinds of triangle on the basis of sides —
♦ Equilateral Triangle : This triangle has all sides with equal length.
e.g. In triangle ABC,
AB = 2cm, BC = 2cm & Ac = 2cm
♦ Isosceles Triangle : This triangle has 2 sides with equal length, the third side is different from others.
e.g. In triangle ABC
AB = 5cm, AC = 5cm & BC = 3cm
♦ Scalene triangle : This triangle has no sides with equal length. In this triangle all the sides are of different length.
e.g. In triangle ABC
AB = 3cm, BC = 5cm, AC = 2cm
There are 3 kinds of triangles on the basis of angles —
♦ Acute angle triangle : This triangle has all the angles below 90° and above 0°.
e.g. Angle-A = 80°, Angle-B = 60° & Angle-C = 60°
♦ Right angle triangle : This triangle has any one angle with 90°.
e.g. Angle-A = 60°, Angle-B = 90° & Angle-C = 65°
♦ Obtuse angle triangle : This triangle has any one or two angle with above 90° and below 180°.
e.g. Angle-A = 70°, Angle-B = 110° & Angle-C = 85°
Some facts about triangles :
♦ Each angle of an equilateral triangle is 60°.
♦ The angle opposite to equal sides of an isosceles triangle are equal.
♦ A scelene triangle has no angles equal with another.
