Trinomial nomenclature refers to names for taxa below the rank of species. These names have three parts. The usage is different in zoology and botany.

The system of providing three worded name to an organism is known as Trinomial Nomenclature.

The three words indicate genus, species and sub species respectively.

Example:- Corvus spendens splendens.
