Triple Point ( DEFINED)

Triple Point can be defined as the temp. Or pressure in which the 3 different phases or states, that is, Solid, Liquid and Gas of a substance, most probably particular substance can co-exist in the equilibrium....

Triple Point is the temperature and pressure at which all three phases of a substance i.e.liquid gas and solid exist together in equilibrium. It is commonly studied in Thermodynamics.


Examples: The triple point for water is at 0.01° Celsius at 4.56 mm Hg.

This implies that at 0.01℃ temperature and 4.56 mm Hg pressure ; Water can exist in all three states in equilibrium.
