The triple point of the substance is the temperature at which all 3 phases(solid, liquid and gas) coexist in thermodynamic equilibrium. For water, its nearly equal to its melting point i.e 0°C. The melting point of a substance is that temperature at which the solid changes state to liquid at atmospheric pressure
