triple point. The temperature and pressure at which a substance can exist in equilibrium in the liquid, solid, and gaseous states. Thetriple point of pure water is at 0.01°C (273.16K, 32.01°F) and 4.58 mm (611.2Pa) of mercury and is used to calibrate thermometers.

Triple point:- It is the point at which all the three state of water such as solid, liquid and gaseous can be observed.
when we boil ice at that time we can observe that water converts from solid(ice) to liquid and then convents into vapour.
This is called triple point of water.
Because we can observe all the three states of water at this point so it is called as triple point.
