Plants show response to some stimuli which is caused by External agents
This type of response is known as Tropism .

Mostly parts of the plants move, So it is called tropism. Tropism means movement.

Some of the tropisms

1) Geotropism
2) HydroTropism
3) Phototropism
4) Thigmotropism.

1) Geotropism :
Roots of the plants always grow down into the ground. So They are going in the direction of gravitational influence. This type of response to gravity is known as Geotropism .

2) Hydrotropism
If you observe the plants growing near the rock , you will see they grow in the direction opposite to rock as there's no water availability at the rock. They grow in the direction where water is present in the soil . This type of response to water is known as Hydrotropism

3) Phototropism :
Some plants make their leaves bent when exposed to sunlight , Consider a creeper growing along your window, it's shoots always bends towards light, The response shown to light is known as Phototropism.

4) Thigmotropism : The response shown by plants to touch is known as Thigmotropism. Best example is Touch me not which closes it's leaves.
