What is true about the some of PE and KE of freely falling body in the absence of air resistance

everybody that ts at rest, they dont have any kinetic energy because at rest the body's velocity is 0(v=0,KE=O)but, they Still posses some potential enrygy by virtue of them being at rest and close to earth surface..Now,in this condition,when the body is in free fall.

the body of mass 'm' is dropped with the velocity=V and from the height='h'

So the body of mass 'm' has

PE=mgh

KE=1/2 mv²

initially,the body has only PE=mgh, because of the body kept at height 'h',and KE=0,becuse Velocity of the body is 0.

but when it starts free fall its velocity kept on increasing due to gravitational acceleration 'g' and just before,when it is happened to touch the ground, the velocity is 'V'. so,at the final state KE= 1/2 mv²,because now velocity=v and PE=0 as the ball has now come to rest.
