The United Nations Trusteeship Council is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations, established to help ensure that trust territories were administered in the best interests of their inhabitants and of international peace and security.

Answer:

The Trusteeship Council was set up to work for the eleven trust territories ( a territory placed under the administrative authority of a country by the Trusteeship Council) formed after the second world war.

Its aim was to make them self sufficient for independence.

Now all these countries are free.

Hence, this organ is now redundant.

The United Nations has six main organs :

  • The General Assembly

  • The Security Council

  • The Economic and Social Council

  • The Trusteeship Council

  • The International Court of Justice

  • The Secretariat.
