Whenever there is a metal which is oxidising(or rusted or corrosing), it is always affected by air and water. To reduce their oxide or to prevent oxiding, these are two different case.
CASE 1: Before oxidising-
Oil paints and Galvalisation (a process in which a layer of zinc and other non- corrosive metal's layer is played on surface to avoid further corrosion).
CASE 2: After oxidising-
Carbon is one of the best reducing agent to prevent it. Or same materials can also be applied.
