Difference in their ages= 3x - x = 2x

After thirteen years ,their ages will be 3x+13 (mother's) and x+13(person's)

Now as per the given condition

1/2(3x+13)= x+13

3x+13=2 (x+13)

3x +13 = 2x + 26

3x-2x = 26–13

x = 13

Present age of mother = 3x = 3× 13= 39 years
