lichens have a unique nature. they look and behave quite differently. lichens contains algae and fungi. algae carry out photosynthesis whereas fungi absorb water and minerals. it is adaptable to diverse climatic conditions.

the thallus is made up of filament of fungal called hyphens.. it has a fungal tissue which is very important in it. generally the fungal mesh is surrounded by the algal or the cyanobacteria cell....
