Newton's law of universal gravitation states that every particle attracts every other particle in the universe with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers.

As we generally know that each and almost every object tries to attract another object with a force as which is inversely propotional to square of the distance between the two object and also propotional to product of their masses.

The incident between this is generally refer as Gravitation also known as Newton law of Motion.

Here,

F ∝ 1/d²

F ∝ M × m

{\boxed{\sf\:{F=G\dfrac{M\times m}{d^2}}}}

Hence we get,

Above we can see that G is constant of proportionality and this is known as Universal gravitational constant.
