This is called convention and it creates low pressure.The air then cools down with altitude and moves aside. This is called advection or upper air circulation.

It has what's called an orographic effect because of the Himalaya unmatched anywhere in the world (I include the Karakorum as part).

Basically, the lower atmosphere, the troposphere gets mixing from orographic effect, convection, etc. Very complex. Higher up, where far less mixing occurs you get the stratosphere where we hope the flow tends to be more laminar. The circulation tends to be in more well understood patterns especially around the Equator.
