An object will float if its density is less than the density of the liquid it is placed into. A force called upthrustacts on all objects placed in a liquid. This force is due to the pressure in theliquid. The weight of a floating object is exactly balanced by the upthrust.

Answer:

hope this helps you :)

Explanation:

When a body is immersed in a liquid, the liquid exerts an upward force on the body. This force is called the upthrust or buoyant force.

                                                    IN EXTRA

The effect of upthrust is that the weight of the body immersed in a liquid appears to be less than its actual weight. Larger the volume of the body submerged in fluid, greater is the upthrust. More the density of the fluid, greater is the upthrust.
