DDT is an organic compound that was widely used as an insecticide- and was very effective. As time went on it was found to persist in the environment and was effectively banned in 1972 due to the damage it did to bird populations worldwide. It’s use is still allowed in certain conditions to control insects carrying disease - but there is still an opinion that it’s use in any circumstances is not acceptable...
