The uterus is an organ of the female reproductive system. It's shaped like an upside-down pear and has thick walls. The uterus'smain function is to house and nourish a fetus until it's ready for birth.

The uterus or womb is a major female sex organ of the reproductive system in humans and most other mammals.
In the human, the lower end of the uterus(the cervix) opens into the vagina, while the upper end is connected to the fallopian tubes.
It is within the uterus that the fetus develops during gestation.
The uterus is supplied by arterial blood both from the uterine artery and the ovarian artery.
