A vacuum is a space that is free or void of any matter. It is a space that has nothing completely.
Sound is a wave energy. What this means, is that sound travels through the vibration of particles of matter or medium. Since a vacuum is void of any matter, sound cannot travel through it

Answer:
Vacuum is a container in which no air is present.
Sound can't travel through it because there is no air in container and sound can't travel without air.
