Answer:

LETS CONSIDER IT AS 3 TRIANGLES.

triangle 1 values : 40 and 48 degrees.

sum of angles of triangle= 180

thus, 40+48+x = 180

        88+x=180

        x= 180-88=  92

vertically opposite angles are equal

the 3rd angle of the triangle with measures x and y will be 92.

adjacent angles are supplementary

the top angle of the triangle which measures on one side 48 is= p

p + 92 = 180

p= 180-92 =   88

therefore the last angle = 48 + 88 + q = 180

                                          136 + q = 180

                                          q = 180 - 136 = 44

therefore last triangle's bottom angle (supplementary) = y + y + 44= 180

                                                                                            2y + 44 = 180

                                                                                            2y=  136

                                                                                          y = 136/2 = 68

therefore x = 68 +92+ x = 180

                 160+x = 180

                 x = 180 -160

                       =20
