VAN'T HOFF FACTOR:-
In the year 1886 van't Hoff introduced a factor 'i' called as "van't Hoff factor" to consider abnormal behavior of solute due to association and dissociation.
>normal value of colligative property (directly proportional) No. of particles of solute.
>abnormal value of colligative property then depends upon - No. of particles of solute after association.
* i= (c.p.)observed /(c.p.)normal
c.p.=colligative property.
* when i>1 there is dissociation of solute in the solution
