answer

the vasa recta bring blood supply at a very slow rate. it consists of a decending limb and a ascending limb.Vasa recta is also known as the straight arteries of the kidneys.Counter-current mechanism first take place in the region of the nephron called henly's loop .The two limbs of henley's loop are counter - current and these tubes are parallel and adjancent.
Then it occurs in a region of the peritubular capillary bed called the " vasa recta". the two limbs of the vasa recta are the counter - current and these tubes are parallel and adjancent. Both are involved in estabilizing an osmotic gradient throughout this region.
