In molecular cloning, a vector is a DNAmolecule used as a vehicle to artificially carry foreign genetic material into another cell, where it can be replicated and/or expressed (e.g.- plasmid, cosmid, Lambda phages). Avector containing foreign DNA is termed recombinant DNA.
