Vegetative reproduction is any form of asexual reproduction occurring in plants in which a new plant grows from a fragment of the parent plant or a specialized reproductive structure.

Vegetative propagation is a type of Asexual reproduction in which new plants are produced from roots , stems, and buds . Since reproduction is through the Vegetative parts of the plant, it is known as Vegetative propagation.

☆In simple words reproduction in some higher plants in which new plant is produced from any Vegetative part of the plant.

There are some Advantages of Vegetative propagation:-

  • Vegetative propagation is useful for plants those have lost the capacity to produce seeds. e.g banana, rose, jasmine.

➪ Moreover , all plants produced are genetically similar to the parent plant.
