The velocity of an object is the rate of change of its position with respect to a frame of reference, and is a function of time. Velocity is equivalent to a specification of its speed and direction of motion(e.g. 60 km/h to the north).

I hope this answer may help you!! Have a good day!

The rate of change of displacement with respect to time is called velocity. It is a vector quantity. There are two parts of velocity-Initial and final velocity.Eg-A swims in a 90 m long pool. He covers 180 m in 1 minute by swimming one end to other and back along the same straight line .Here the velocity will be Displacement/ Time =0/60s =0 m/s
