•Scalar quantity:--A quantity in which magnitude is given but direction is not fixed.
example :-distance, speed, pressure etc.
•Vector quantity:--A quantity in which magnitude is given and direction is also fixed.
example:-- displacement , velocity, force etc.
so, let's know about velocity.
velocity:- It is displacement covered per unit of time or it is the ratio of displacement and time. It is denoted by "v".
It's SI unit is m/s.
It is vector quantity.
mathematically it can be written as
velocity=displacement / time.
v= s/t

Velocity is referred as displacement per unit time. Velocity is a vector quantity, vector quantity is the quantity which measures both distance and magnitude. So as velocity is displacement over time, its vector.
SI unit of velocity is 'm/s' . Other units are 'km/hr' and 'cm/s'.
When a body covers equal distance in equal interval's of time then the velocity is known to be constant or uniform velocity.
When a body covers unequal distance in equal interval's of time, or equal distances in unequal interval's of time, or unequal distances in unequal interval's of time then velocity is known as variable or non-uniform velocity.
Avearge velocity is the arithmetic mean of initial velocity (u) and final velocity (v).
Ie- average velocity= u+v/2
That's all about velocity. And remember speed and velocity are different. Speed has only magnitude and no direction thus it's scalar quantity.
