The arrangement of veins on leaf blade is called venation. In angiosperm there are two types of venation.
1.Reticulate venation- is net like pattern of arrangement of veins. Eg- Rose,Tulsi, Maple etc.
It is further divided into type
a.Unicostate or Pinnate Reticulate- in this leafs having a single main mid- rib. Eg- Hibiscus.
b.Multicostate or Palmate Reticulate- in this type leafs having two or more mid - ribs arising from a single point . And it is further divided into:-
●Multicostate convergent- leafs have many mid-ribs in a curved fashion from base of blade to its apex. Eg- beri.
●Multicostate divergent- leafs having many mid-ribs arise at the base of the leaf and then diverge from one another towards the margin.Eg- papaya.
2. Parallel venation- in this smaller veins are running parallel to each other. Eg- Banana, palm, onion etc.
Parallel venation is also divided into two types
a.Unicostate or Pinnate parallel- in this lamina has a single prominent midrib from which lateral veins arise which run towards the margin.Eg- Banana.
b.Multicostate or Palmate parallel-in this type several leaves run parallel to each other.
And it is further divided as:
●Multicostate convergent-in this type principal veins appear from the base of the lamina and converge at the apex.Eg- Bamboo.
●Multicostate divergent- in this type main veins of leaf appear from the base of the lamina and converge at the apex.Eg- Fan palm.
Hope this will help .
