The light rays from an object at the bottom of the slab, water glass, or pond are bent at the surface of water or glass and are bent away from the normal at the point of incidence. So for a viewer an object at the bottom of a denser medium appears to be raised upwards. This is called the vertical shift.

Answer:

Explanation:The path followed by a reflected light which is along the path of the light faces is called lateral shift

It is calculated by the perpendicular distance between incident ray and reflected rays

This depends upon the following factors;

Thickness of the glass slab

Angle of incidence and angle of refraction, or in order words this depends on refractive index of glass slab
