The image which cannot be captured or brought to a screen is a virtual image; whereas, the image which can be brought t a screen is a real image. Real images are mostly inverted, and virtual images are mostly erect.

The image which cannot be obtained on a screen is called virtual image . A virtual image can be seen only by looking into mirror (or a lens) . The image of our face in a plane mirror is an example of virtual image.
