☆ A part of the nervous system that represents the motor innervation of smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, and gland cells.
☆ It consists of two physiologically and anatomically distinct, mutually antagonistic components:

◇ parasympathetic parts.
☆The general visceral afferent fibers (GVA) conduct sensory impulses (usually pain or reflex sensations) from the internal organs, glands, and blood vessels to the central nervous system.
