The Vishwakarma community, sometimes referred to as Vishwabrahmin in some parts of India, is however a composite group of five communities of artisans and craftspersons in India. The five sub-groups—Carpenters, Ironsmiths, Bronzesmiths, coppersmiths, goldsmiths and Stonemasons/sculptors — trace their descent from Vishvakarman, a Hindu deity. Vishwakarmas today worship various foms of this deity as well as other deities of the Hindu pantheon
