Volutin granules are an intra cytoplasmic ( inside the cytoplasm of a cell ) storage form of complexed inorganic of polyphosphate, the production of which is used as one of the identifying criteria when attempting to isolate Corynebacterium diphtheriae or löffler's medium. polyphosphate granules called metachromatic granules due to their displaying of metachromatic effect.

Actinomycetes are a class of bacteria. These are the organisms with characteristics common to both bacteria and fungi but yet possessing distinctive features to delimit them into a distinct category.
