Good morning

Vulnerability – Weaknesses or gaps in a security program that can be exploited by threats to gain unauthorized access to an asset. A vulnerability is a weakness or gap in our protection efforts. Risk – The potential for loss, damage or destruction of an asset as a result of a threat exploiting a vulnerability..

A vulnerability is a weakness/loophole in either the implementation of the system, system controls, or internal processes, which can be exploited by the attacker.

The probability of getting this vulnerability exploited is the Risk to the organizations’ assets.

For e.g.: An XSS vulnerability in the web application may cause the risk of unauthorized access. Or a weakness in the access management of the system/process may cause the risk of a fraud.
