hii here is your Answer:---)

Wave Motion is a peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing papers on the physics of waves – with emphasis on the areas of acoustics, optics, geophysics, seismology, electromagnetic theory, solid and fluid mechanics.

i hope this will help uhh !

Answer:

As defined i remember in my class, we were introduced to physical motion of objects in either of the two ways, i.e carrying energy along with momentum i.e a particle having momentum (i.e a physical object now having zero rest mass classically) , though special relativity allows certain objects like photons as well as neutrinos to have zero rest mass and then too carry momentum and energy as an electromagnetic wave.

Oh wait what !!

An electromagnetic what? "Wave"?

Well but I said it's the photons which are particles !!

And so there you here's the crux !

Wave is actually anything that carries energy from one point to another in a physically tensor but externally inactivated medium, i.e not physically or classically influenced by any other radiating or force generating efficient field producing charge in case of electrodynamics and in case of gravitational analysis be it mass or whatever ! (Inertial mass and gravitational mass to be specific !)

So, well yes wave as in from an Oxford dictionary does not satisfy what physics says about this !

That is it ! Wave motion in itself is an idea about the movement of energy or transfer of energy from one point to another by a medium.

Be it energy moving from one point to another in a string macroscopically or be it field generating electrons from one side of the orbital to another in the atom microscopically ! 。◕‿◕。

hope this helps you ! 。◕‿◕。
