WBC stands for White Blood cells. The main function of the WBC is to protect from infection. They are colourless. WBCs are also known as Leucocytes.

WBC has two categories :-

1. Granulocytes :-

==> In this granules are found which can be stained by a specific dye.

==> In this lobes are interconnected.

==> Multinucleated shape is seen.

==> It is produced by the bone marrow.

==> Granulocytes are further divided into three types Basophils, acidophils and Neutrophils.

2. Agranulocytes :-

==> In this cytoplasm is clear and is agranular.

==> It is known as mononuclear WBC because in this Nucleus is not divided.

==> It is also produced in the bone marrow.

==> Granulocytes are further divided into two categories Monocytes and Lymphocytes.
