What is weeding?

Ans-Weeding is the process or removing undesirable plants that grow along with the crop(weeds).

Why it is important?

Ans-Weeds compete with the crops for nutrients,light and space.As a result,crop plants get lesser nutrients,light,and space for their development.Thus in turn,reduces their productivity.That's why it is important to remove weeds.

Methods to remove weeds -

  • It can be controlled by using weedicides.Weedicides are chemicals which is sprayed in the fields to kill all available weeds.They aren't harmful to crops.

  • Tilling before sowing of crops also helps in removing weeds as it uproots the weeds.

  • Farmers also remove it by hand with trowel(khurpi).
