The water-gas shift (WGS) reaction describes the reaction of carbon monoxide and water vapour to form carbon dioxide and hydrogen:

CO + H₂O ⇌ CO₂ + H₂

The water gas shift reaction was discovered by Italian physicist Felice Fontana in 1780. It was not until much later that the industrial value of this reaction was realised.

The water-gas shift (WGS) reaction is an equilibrium-limited reaction at higher temperatures, usually kinetically limited below 250 °C. This requires development of more active low-temperature catalysts and advanced reactor concepts to overcome limitations related to low CO conversions in the range 250–350 °C.

Answer:

BRAINLIST

Explanation:

WGS reaction is exothermic and therefore, the overall conversion is merely inhibited by the kinetics.
