Wheatstone bridge is a combination of 5 resistances or 4 resistances with 1 galvanometer in all for legs of a rhombus with an anti-diagonal containing the galvanometer or the 5th resistor.

Wheatstone bridge can be of two types depending on the ratio of the resistance of the resistors on either side of the anti diagonal namely balanced and unbalanced Wheatstone bridge.

Applying Kirchhoff's law, we get--

(I₃.R₃)-(I(gal.).R(gal.))-(I₁.R₁)=0
and,
(I.R)-(I.R)+(I(gal.).R(gal.))=0

Here, I have supposed that R₁ and R₂ are on the same side of the anti-diagonal where R₀ denotes one unknown resistance.
