What is wheatstone bridge / write its working in shorts?

It is a specially designed mixed grouping circuit, as it was designed by wheat stone, that is why so named. It consist of 5 resistors and 1 across diagonal of rectangle or square. According to wheat stone if R1/R2=R3/R4 then potential difference of point C is equal to potential difference at point D i.e no current move across diagonal, so it behaves as a fake resistor. hence,it should be removed and bridge is said to be balanced.
