All natural numbers together with '0' are called whole numbers.

Thus 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,.....are whole numbers.

Clearly, every natural number is a whole number but 0 is a whole number which is not a natural number.

  • All whole numbers are integers but all integers are not whole numbers. Example: 3 is a whole number as well as integer while - 3 is an integer but not whole number.
  • All whole numbers are rational numbers but all rational numbers are not whole numbers. Example: 5 is a whole number as well as rational number because 5 can be written as 5/1. But 5/2 is a rational number but not whole number.
  • All whole numbers are decimal numbers but all decimal numbers are not whole numbers. Example: 7 is a whole number as well as decimal number as it can be written as 7.0 . But 7.4 is a decimal number and not whole number.

If x is a whole number and x > -4

Then, the solution set of x will be,

x = {0,1,2,3,4......}
