Wind pipe, also known as trachea, is a long narrow tube, which is lined with ciliated mucus membrane.

It is the bony tube that connects the nose and mouth to the lungs, and is an important part of the vertebrate respiratory system.

The trachea branches into two tubes, the left and right bronchi. The cilia move the mucus containing dust particles back to the pharynx, where it is swallowed.

Answer:

The windpipe is made of cartilage, and it allows air to flow freely in and out of your lungs. If your windpipe becomes inflamed or irritated, you'll cough, and if it's blocked by a wayward chunk of food you may need someone to pound hard on your back or give you the Heimlich maneuver to remove it. The medical term for windpipe is trachea.

hope this helps you.
