Winnowing is very useful in agriculture. We get grains and husk separate by winnowing, so husk can be used as food for animals. We can separate grains such as wheat, corn, millet etc. from lighter impurities such as husk, straw, stones etc.

Winnowing means
to free (grain) from the lighter particles of chaff, dirt, etc., especially by throwing it into the air and allowing the wind or a forced current of air to blow away impurities. to drive or blow (chaff, dirt, etc.) away by fanning.
Advantages of Winnowing
This method doesn't require any machines for its functioning. It is completely based on human activity and hence it takes less time to process and definitely very cheap.
