Winnowing is separating grain from the husks and chaff. Old fashioned winnowing is done by “beating “ the grain with a “flail”, this part is actually called threshing.

This method is used by farmers to separate lighter husk particles from heavier seeds of grain.

➼ How is it done?

☛This can be done by pouring the grains from certain height on a windy day then the grains fall on the ground while the light weighed chaff is blown away with air.
