what is work of electro magnet? Explain in EASSY language.

electromagnet is a wire wound around soft iron core. when we pass electricity thru the soft iron core it will act as a magnet as long as electricity is passed thru it.. once the supply of current is cut, it will lose it's magnetic properties.. so it acts as a temporary magnet.
