xylem is a Complex permanent tissue which conducts water and mineral salt upward from Roots to leaves.
the four elements of xylem are
tracheids
vessels
xylem parenchyma
xylem fibres
trachieds - they transport water and Minerals vertically
vessels - they also transport water and mineral vertically
xylem parenchyma - Stores food and helps in sideway conduction of water
xylem fibres - they are mostly supportive in functions
hope it helps you

Xylem is the complex permanent tissue which helps in the conduction of water and minerals from stems to roots and to give mechanical strength to the plant parts.
Xylem has four different types of cells :
Tracheids, Vessels, Xylem fibres, Xylem parenchyma
Functions
1) Tracheids
They are the primitive conducting elements of xylem
2) Vessels
They are advanced conducting elements of xylem
They work as a pipeline during conduction of water
In flowering plants, tracheids and vessels are main water transporting elements.
3) Xylem fibres
They provide strength to tracheids and vessels. They are abundantly found in secondary xylem (wood).
These all three cells are dead (without protoplasm)
4) Xylem parenchyma
Storage of food material in the form of starch or fat and storage of other substances like tannins.
A special xylem parenchymatous cells known as xylem rays helps in radial conduction of water.
Xylem parenchyma cells are living
